BRECHIN: SNAPSHOTS FROM THE PAST
Battle of Stracathro

Battle of Stracathro In 1130 King David I was faced with rebellion from Angus, Earl of Moray. It is not clear what the aim of the revolt was but the earl's ally and possible kinsman was Malcolm who may have had some claim to the throne. The royal army soundly defeated the rebels at Stracathro. While Angus was slain, Malcolm escaped and continued to create problems for the king until his capture four years later.
